Ethical clothing, every step of the way

Clothing your baby will feel good in, and that you’ll feel good about

No business is perfect, but we are committed to transparency and evolving our processes as we learn more about sustainable practices. From the selection of our fabrics, to manufacturing and shipping, we do everything we can to lower our environmental footprint as we bring you durable, comfortable staple pieces for your child’s wardrobe.

Choosing organic fabrics

Our knitwear is crafted from a blend of organic cotton & hemp. We believe in slow fashion and creating non-toxic, biodegradable garments so that our clothing never ends up languishing in landfills.

Our fabrics are intentionally chosen to avoid the need for chemical inputs and GMOs and promote crops that can be grown through regenerative soil practices. Hemp is great for its durability and natural antimicrobial properties, which means that your clothes stay cleaner for longer. Plus, our cotton and hemp blends grow softer to the touch after every machine wash and dry. Perfect for helping busy parents keep up with the kids!

Using Ethical Manufacturing Practices

At Ares + Co, we believe in women supporting women.

Our pieces are thoughtfully designed with love in Vancouver by an all women team. The everyday Tencel™ collection is handmade with intention in Abottsford, BC. Our garment and fabric manufacturing partners have compassion for both natural resources and people.

Our knitwear is ethically produced by a female-led small family business in Taiwan. They keep their environmental footprint low by harvesting rainwater and recycled water, use wind energy to power machines, and use Bluesign® certified facilities for textile dyeing. They provide their majority female team wages that are above industry average and provide ongoing opportunities for professional development.

Sustainable Shipping Methods

Online shopping is great, but it creates a lot of waste due to the need to package items for shipping. We keep our environmental footprint low by using fully compostable packaging from No Issue and avoiding plastics:

  • Our mailers and label stickers are compostable, so no need to ruin your nails as you try to peel the sticker off before putting your package in the compost!
  • We use 100% recycled card stock
  • Our items come in a handy reusable organic cotton bag. Use it to pack diapers, snacks, or extra clothing when heading out with your babe.
